This rainbow challenge board is a great tool to encourage children to move around and try new activities.
Laminate the cards, then write on the daily challenges. Once a child completes a challenge give them a coloured lolly stick or the coloured strips, which can be placed on a display board to show how many challenges they have completed that day.
Children love challenges!
A colourful farm scene with missing farm animals. I fantastic resource which can be enlarged and laminated for children to talk about what animals they would find on a farm and for them to create their own farm scene.
Under the Ocean is a great way of getting children to talk about what type of animals they might find under the ocean. It allows them to talk about what they might look like, eat etc and is great for encouraging them to speak clearly and confidently.
The resource can be enlarged so children can create their own under the ocean scene.

The characteristics of effective teaching and learning are:
Playing and Exploring - Children investigate and experience things and ‘have a go’.
Active Learning - Children concentrate and keep on trying if they encounter difficulties and enjoy achievements.
Creating and Thinking Critically - Children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas and develop strategies for doing things.
They are bright and easy to read, and a useful tool for early years practisioners.
The new framework for the early years foundation stage describes the three characteristics of effective teaching and learning as:
Playing and exploring: children investigate and experience things and ‘have a go’;
Active learning: children concentrate and keep on trying if they encounter difficulties and enjoy achievements;
Creating and thinking critically: children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas and develop strategies for doing things.
This observation overview uses the statements from Development Matters 2020. It has been designed to record observations over the year, to give practitioners an overview of how each child learns. The statements from Development Matters 2020 are on each sheet, alongside a space for adults to record their observations of the child.
They are colourful and match the Characteristics posters that I have made.
